A discussion on healing

A very interesting discussion on the subject of Christian healing developed at the Titus One Nine blog, in response to a story about the growth of Pentecostal Christianity around the world.

In particular there was some interesting back-and-forth with Dean Rick Lobs from the Cathedral Church of St. Luke in Orlando. The Cathedral has a strong healing ministry affiliated with the Order of St. Luke. Dean Lobs points out some hard truths about what is actually, commonly seen today when we pray for the sick. Several others wrote in to share what they have personally seen answer to prayer.

A couple of examples from the comments:

I am a surgeon who grew up in AOG church. I’ve been a low church episocpalian for 25 years thanks to Paul Zahl. Ihave seen two documented miraculous healings in medical career, both with CAT SCANs before and after. Cancers gone after patients attended charismatic healing masses at their local R.C. churches. One was a Kidney cancer, explored at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center - patient closed after exploration and CAT SCAN repeated - mass gone. The second was a cantalope sized prostate cancer gone - patient is 12 years without any recurrence. CT Scan clean! Both cases I have personal, first hand knowledge. The 2nd patient is still my patient.

Ask me if I believe in miracles or a risen Christ.

And one more:

A young lad in our town was cured at Lourdes, and it would not be in the documents. He had been very sick for years and the MDs were unable to figure out the source of his malady. No name for the illness, no documents. His Lutheran parents took him to Lourdes and he was instantly cured, wanted food, wanted to do things, and hasn’t been sick in the last 3 years. His entire family was received in the local RC church this Easter.
