Recently I was stricken with a terrible stomach ache. I honestly thought that childbirth had been easier. I tried every trick I knew to get it to go away. My son, Zachary (age 7), was helping me get things done around the house that day. When he saw how much pain I was in he asked what he could do. I asked him to fix me a cup of mint tea. As he was lovingly preparing my tea, it occurred to me to ask him to pray for me. When he came back with the tea, I did just that. He did pray for me, silently, without hesitation. Shortly after, my stomach started to feel better. I was able to go to sleep with ease and slept very soundly for the whole night. When I awoke the next morning, I felt fully refreshed and relieved. When I told him about how his prayer worked for me, he just said "I know."
Around this same time my husband had been suffering from a severe fatigue attack, lasting longer than usual. He would only get 1-3 hour swatches of sleep each day/night. We all had been praying for him daily and encouraging him to be still and rest. Especially since we are preparing for a family trip to Disney World. We wanted him to be rested and able to enjoy the outing. After the event with my stomach, I asked Zachary to go lay hands on his Daddy and pray for him on Monday morning. Of course he did so right away. Robert slept quietly and soundly for 14 straight hours that day. He awoke for a short period to eat and visit a bit. He was alert and rested. He then went back to sleep and slept the whole night through. He certainly will be rested and ready to go with our family on our getaway. God truly works in marvelous ways!
