A healing testimony from Kaye Ruhle:

Do you have needs that you easily take to Jesus in prayer and then concerns you would never consider addressing in prayer?

I guess I did. Recently, I had a skin cancer that galvanized me to go for prayer immediately. Something about the word "cancer", something about the fear that accompanies that word and I had no problem going to OSL for healing prayer.

But, then, I had this knee problem that had been pestering me for over a year. Somehow, that was just a bother and inconsequential, not something to be taken seriously. However, over the past year, this inconsequential knee problem had significantly impaired a wonderful trip-of-a-lifetime with my daughter. I was now "double-footing" the stairs. I couldn’t drive my stick-shift car without pain and I was pushing myself out of chairs, rather than letting my body do its natural thing. Sleeping through the night had become a prize.

I had tried rest. I had tried exercise. I had tried heat and I had tried cold. Over Christmas, with another special trip in the offing, I gave up, talked to my daughter about trading cars and made a doctor’s appointment.

I’m embarrassed to say, that, as a prospective OSL member, I had never thought to ask for prayer for this! On Wednesday, I attended our healing service. Sister Jean spoke from personal experience about humbling herself and asking for prayer. That is when I realized I, too, had not done that. I went for prayer and OSL member David prayed for me.

On the drive home, I thought my leg didn’t hurt quite as much when operating the clutch of my car. But, then, I surely was imagining things. When I went to church that night for class, I kept "trying out" my knee and realized I had flexibility and mobility back! I could trust that knee to support me again as I went up and down the stairs! Throughout the week, I tested the strength of that knee and I was no longer pushing myself out of chairs. In fact, I could again genuflect in church! I was, and I am, humbled, indeed! I give glory to God for his healing power and grace!

When Rick, another OSL member, asked me to write up my testimony, I told him that I was ecstatic with my regained abilities, but that I still had a little residual pain and was hesitant to write what he asked. I wasn’t 100% improved. I told him I was happy with the renewed flexibility and mobility and the 90% reduction of the pain. It was more than sufficient for me to rejoice in that! He wisely reminded me of two things. First, he reminded me of an example in Francis McNutt’s book discussing healing gains that were gradual. Secondly, while counseling me to have OSL continue praying for me, he said "Jesus doesn’t invite us to keep standing outside the door, holding off thanking Him until we get a 100% healing."

So I am thanking Jesus for what He has done for me, and continuing to humbly make my prayer requests for complete recovery known to Him. Like Paul wrote to the Philippians,
